This is a blog about The Meadow Man, a feature length animation in the works By David Firth. This is mainly a solo project so it will take many years. Don't worry, this project is still alive!

Voice auditions closed!

Thanks for all your wonderful submissions. I have listened to about half of them and so far I am very impressed with the talent on offer, but I set a deadline and I'm sticking to it. It was today. Don't send me any more please. I have plenty to wade through. I haven't replied to anyone yet but I will try to get back to everyone eventually.

I know there haven't been many updates but I am making progress on my film every day. As soon as I have some interesting things to report and share I will update more regularly.

  1. Alas, I've been too snowed under to get a submission to you, but I'm sure there's no shortage of talent at your disposal.

Looking forward to seeing the fruits of your labor.

  3. Alas, the eternal struggle between me and my rebellious soundcard has resulted in the absence of my submission to this Most Excellent Production. Meh, I probably would have sounded boring anyway. Any previews coming any time soon? :D

  4. I think I'm starting to dislike people that say "Alas".

  6. Hello Dave. This talk about voice acting and audio and stuff (through some odd thought processes) made me realize something: When your DVD comes out, people are going to torrent it. No doubt about it. So here's an idea: include with the DVD something that can't be torrented. Put some stickers in or a scratch-and-sniff on the case or something...

(P.S. I wish to make babies with you)

  13. So excited about your new feature length animation! I've been following your work since I discovered your site back in 2004; I remember it was the same week Salad Fingers 5 came out. I can't believe it's been almost 5 years... Anyway, keep up the good work! I'm really looking forward to seeing The Meadow Man when it comes out! Hopefully on DVD! :-)

  14. What a great question... But forget eating. If you stopped time, your primary concern would be breathing, no? And what about seeing? Presumably light would be suspended in space as you moved about, right? It wouldn't radiate outward or reflect or refract. You'd be essentailly blind until you physically moved your head into the photons before your eyes.

Godlike powers certainly have their pitfalls.

Meanwhile, how goes the Movie, Dave?

I wonder what music you will choose; I'm always impressed by the soundtrack of your films.

  18. Man! I so wish I hadn't been a total musket and submitted some voice recordings! I have so many to offer, though in my mind they have potential, in reality they're probably shit. David, if you ever have time, read one of my blogs, they're essentially short stories about nothing.
Peace, and good luck with it all!

  19. I'd hope to think that once the project is finished it'd end up in cinemas as opposed to DVD. I'd definitely pay to see it. I'm sure you probably don't think about Australia very much, but you have a huge fan base here. =]

  23. Offtopic, sorry.

Please, help me to find Locust Toyboxs track, which i can describe as: amazing, agressive rush of 8-bit sounds with some rap. Listened to this track in autumn of 2006 year. Cant remember the name.

  24. Hmmm... I do hope I get a response. I submitted my voice, but I'm fairly certain I won't be considered (I has teh mope). I'm American, but I was hoping that he would have some use for an American voice. Ah, well.
